Saint Jerome in His Study — Albrecht Dürer

I’m Marcus, a Senior at Colorado Academy studying design and artificial intelligence independently. I’m a believer in identity-driven work. We were born on this earth as unique beings with our own points of view. When we give birth to an idea or a product, I find it evil not to grant it an identity of its own.

Lazily designed software is the most saddening thing I can find. It tells me you don’t care about your product — only the money. A good product is enjoyable to use. A good product is enjoyable to look at. The businesses that overlook design because it’s not a “core business strategy” are the same businesses that will never have a legacy. A poorly designed product relies solely on the value the product provides and not the experience of using it. The moment a business decides to stop being generic is the moment they truly become something more.
